Isuzu is a Japanese automaker known for making buses, trucks, tractors, industrial diesel-powered vehicles, and engine components. Founded in 1916, the company started as a joint venture of automobile production between Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. and Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. They manufactured the first Japanese truck in 1919. 

The first Isuzu vehicle to arrive in the U.S. was the KS22 truck. It featured an 87-HP diesel engine and a low cab forward design. In just two years, the Japanese automaker's low cab forward trucks were best-selling in the U.S.
